Hey guys. Apparently some of you aren’t happy with my elusiveness on the blog so due to popular demand, I’ll give you all an update. Right now I’m in the Northeast of Australia and will soon be in Cairns. I’ve spent the last 6 weeks traveling up the east coast of OZ and it been a blast. I’ve seen some amazing sights and have had some amazing experiences.
The ones that come to mind the most are my trips on Fraser Island and the Whitsunday Islands. On Fraser Island, I rented a 4×4 Range Rover along with 6 other guys and we bombed around the biggest sand island in the world. We camped under the amazing stars and had an awesome time. There were 14 of us in total and we had bonfires on the beach, swam in freshwater streams and crystal clear lakes. I was really lucky to have an awesome group that all got along and wanted to have a good time.
I also did a sailing trip in the Whitsunday Islands which was amazing. Did a ton of snorkeling and a dive as well as helped with setting the sails. Again, I was lucky to meet a group of 12 awesome folks who wanted to have fun and got on really well. I visited Whitehaven Beach which claims to have the whitest and finest sand in the world. The white swirls of sand in the azure waters combined with the shadows of stingrays moving about was stunning.
I’m now on my way up to Cairns where I plan to dive the Great Barrier Reef and do a bungee jump. I will be in Cairns for 5 days before I head to Brisbane and then South Africa for the World Cup. I have a safari and Great White Shark dive lined up for when I arrive in Africa. I plan on spending the entire month in South Africa enjoying the games and atmosphere. I have tickets to see Brazil, Portugal, and the Ivory Coast. All these teams have potential to go a long ways in the tournament and I’m excited to be apart of the first ever World Cup in Africa. From there, I really don’t know where I’ll be next. I plan on using the knowledge of my South African friends about Africa on where I should go next.
As far as my impressions of Australia as a whole go, I think it has a lot of really cool things to see. But the prices in this country are crazy! The other day I paid $14.50 for a matinee movie. I pay $6 for a matinee at home. For a can of coke, it is $2-3 where I get it for 50 cents at home. This is especially irritating when you come from Southeast Asia where you can get beers for 20 cents each. It has taken me a long time to get adjusted to the pricing. That’s the biggest downfall for visiting Australia that I can see. In the end though, the prices are still worth it to come down under and experience this fun loving culture.
So that’s pretty much what I’ve been up to as late. But it looks like I need to take off as the sun is shining and the pool is calling my name. It’s a rough life but somebody has got to do it. It might as well be me!

Hey Ryan, Australia is awesome isnt it? Youll enjoy going out in Cairns and especially the man made lagoon in town where you can cool off, the heat is intense up there!
I wish Australia wasnt so damn expensive! You can live a month in Thailand on what the basics cost in a week in Australia.
